"Golfing with a shotgun? ... "The perfect marriage between hunting and target shooting?" ...Well, it's been called many things, but Sporting Clays is, in a word, "fun."

Sporting Clays is a "game" in which clay targets of various shapes and sizes are thrown to simulate a variety of bird and animal behaviors in natural hunting conditions. Shooters walk through a course of shooting situations and, at each station, endeavor to break as many of the targets as possible.

Unlike some shooting sports, Sporting Clays is very relaxing -- possibly the reason it is compared with golf. Shooters walk the course at their own pace and the pressure for perfection is lessened because it is virtually impossible to hit all the targets.

Summer Sporting Clays leagues are great fun! This sport consists of two-man teams with handicaps, like golf. Leagues at Hunter's Ridge begin in the spring (usually May) of the new year. Call the club at (248) 628-4868 for more information or to sign up for this weekly activity!

Hunter's Ridge Hunt Club Sporting Clays is open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning May 1 through August 31. Reservations are required, so be sure to call our office to schedule your date and time. The cost for Sporting Clays is $18.00 per 50-shot round and some supplies are available through our Pro-Shop. Private instruction is available from Level 2 Instructor, Dave Fischer.

Hunter's Ridge has been host to several Off-Road events held in the spring, summer and fall. The off-road course at Hunter's Ridge Hunt Club was developed by owner Dave Fischer with very specific challenges given by Hummer and Jeep to name a few. The course offers steep upgrades, mud bogs, rock piles and almost every other road difficulty you can think of to test man and his machine!

Our Off-Road Events and courses can be customized for the novice to the expert and as always, safety is paramount. We always have paramedics on-site for these events and for extra precaution, the course is often guided with a "Lead Driver" designated from the corporation sponsoring the event.

Hunter's Ridge Hunt Club will be hosting their14^t^h Annual Drive & Shoot outings on June 25, 2008 and August 20, 2008.

Your day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with 50 rounds of sporting clay's. After shooting, it's back to the main yard for a sumptuous buffet style outdoor barbeque picnic. Usually this includes a pig roast, chicken, burgers and all the trimmings to go with! Nine holes of golf at Copper Hills Golf Club follows lunch (golf carts included!!), then it's back to the Clubhouse for hors d'oeuvres and beverages ... you are almost certain to have many memorable stories of your day to share with your friends and family!

The yearly Dad's & Kid's Weekend Campout that everyone looks forward to is held on the first weekend of August. The weekend offers fishing, swimming, cycling, and all around great bonding time for kid's and their Dad's. This year, we had approximately 50 campers and from what our pictures reflect, a great time was had by all!

OPERATION LOCKWOOD

On Saturday July 28, 2007, Hunter's Ridge Hunt Club had the privilege of hosting and co-sponsoring Operation Lockwood. This event honored CPL John Lockwood, USMC who sustained near-fatal injuries from a roadside bomb (IED) while he was serving his country in Iraq in November, 2006.

John, as luck would have it, John has a very proud uncle in Chuck Stockwell, who in turn has a great bunch of friends at Hunter's Ridge. A group of Chuck's friends wanted to show their appreciation to John for the sacrifice he made during his deployment in Iraq, hence, Operation Lockwood was planned.

The event offered sporting clays, skeet, catch and release fishing, a silent auction and a raffle. Chef Angie Kosek of All-Pro Catering, created a luncheon fit for a king! We were all very proud to be a part of this great event for John and his wife Lisa. The money that was raised, with all proceeds going directly to John and Lisa Lockwood, was simply overwhelming! Thanks to all that participated in this event!!!
